LIMS Design & Architecture
Turning messy laboratory processes and business rules into something a LIMS can actually run.
Independent software studio
Apps built with care, caffeine, and mild panic.
Independent software studio and LIMS consultancy in Portugal. Laboratory systems by day, native apps by night.
Health tracking, studio tools, tower defence. Software that respects your time, privacy and attention.

Professional services
I'm Pavith Ramkelawon, an independent Senior LIMS Consultant with 14+ years in laboratory software for regulated, scientific environments. The kind where a typo in a workflow actually matters.
Requirements, architecture, configuration, development, integrations, upgrades, production support. The tools change. The goal does not: make complicated lab processes reliable, understandable and usable by real people wearing lab coats.
Abstract workflow. Your lab, your rules, fewer spreadsheets.
Capabilities
One experienced consultant. No slide decks featuring stock photos of pipettes.
Turning messy laboratory processes and business rules into something a LIMS can actually run.
Workflows, interfaces, automation, reports, dashboards and the custom bits vendors forgot to include.
Connecting LIMS platforms with instruments, ERP systems, mobile workflows and external services.
Upgrades, legacy cleanup, technical remediation and modernisation without pretending the old system never happened.
Owning design decisions, coding standards and the hard conversations between lab staff, IT and vendors.
Senior help without the consultancy theatre or twelve people on a Zoom call to discuss a dropdown.
LIMS selection, implementation or rescue mission? Get in touch. Replies come from a human who has actually configured a workflow.
Engineering
One studio, two very different kinds of work. Enterprise LIMS on one side. Native product engineering on the other. The stack changes. The stubbornness about usability does not.
CONSULTING
Independent LIMS consulting for regulated labs. Deep LabWare experience, plus work across other major commercial platforms.
Workflow overview
$ describe --service lims-consulting
→ LabWare depth across enterprise laboratory environments.
→ Focus: workflows, integrations, architecture, modernisation.
→ Delivery model: independent, hands-on, low on PowerPoint.
Web design & development
Fast, custom-built websites for consultants, small businesses and digital products. Polished, fast, and free of the usual template-shaped sadness.
From a simple professional presence to a full product site. Each one is built around the actual business, not wedged into a generic theme because it was on sale.
A focused custom service from an independent studio. Not a large agency. Not a slide deck with seventeen account managers.
Design
Build
Launch
Layouts built around the brand and the job the site needs to do, not around whatever the theme demo looked like.
Works on desktop, tablet and phone without the usual 'pinch and hope' mobile experience.
Fast pages, semantic HTML, keyboard support and the kind of usability you notice when it is missing.
Landing pages, support pages, privacy policies, terms and App Store copy that reads like a human wrote it.
For consultants and independents who need to look credible without sounding like a Fortune 500 press release.
Updates, new sections, content changes and the small fixes that pile up after launch.
Technical approach
WordPress is available when it genuinely makes sense. It is not installed by reflex.
context switch
$ switch-context --from enterprise-lims --to side-projects
→ regulated workflows: stable
→ consulting mode: active
→ spare-time judgement: questionable
→ loading apps and games...
Applications
Independent productsLIMS consulting pays the bills. These are the apps, fitness tools and games I build when I apparently still think there is not enough software in the world.
Health tracking that stays on your phone
Personal health, fitness and goals. HealthKit data, useful charts, and a retro UI that does not get in the way.
Studio management without the chaos
For trainers and studio owners. Clients, workouts, schedules, measurements. One place instead of five spreadsheets.
Defend. Build. Regret your maze.
Mobile tower defence with gems, heroes, maze building and the kind of progression that keeps you up too late.
Community
PaiIT exists because of a lifelong love of animals. When time and workload allow, I contribute skills to projects that genuinely improve the lives of animals. No stock photos of smiling volunteers required.
Part of a registered animal rescue or welfare organisation and think I might be able to help? Get in touch. I cannot promise every project will be possible, but I am always happy to have the conversation.
Helping where I can, one project at a time.
Contact
LIMS consulting, product work, app support, or a reasonable excuse to talk about laboratory systems. Pick an enquiry type and say hello.

Philosophy
Principles behind every decision, from architecture to button colour.
Every screen has to earn its place. Clarity over clutter. Intention over 'we had an idea at 11pm'.
Your data is yours. Collect little, explain clearly, default to sensible.
If it does not help someone do something real, it does not ship. Sounds obvious. Worth repeating.
Mobile apps should feel at home on the device. Responsive, tactile, respectful of platform conventions.
Sometimes a feature exists because building it was genuinely fun. I try to be honest about which ones those are.
Small studio means personal attention, straight answers, and the occasional 2 a.m. tweak because something did not feel quite right. Coffee consumed: stopped counting. Cats supervising: 3.
In memory of Pai
PaiIT is named after Pai, a small green-eyed cat who left behind a surprisingly large legacy. Every app carries a little of her curiosity, stubbornness and excellent supervision.
The remaining feline executive team continues to oversee development, mostly from comfortable surfaces and occasionally by walking across keyboards at critical moments.
